The statistics only include injuries reported by the police. In order to examine the socalled underreporting of figures Statistics Denmark has since 1996 conducted a study where data on persons treated by casualty wards have been included. The studies have shown that the total number of injuries is almost 5 times higher than the number registered by the police. However, the coverage with respect to persons killed is almost 100 per cent. As from 2001 the results are published in the table MOERKE.
